The Business Development Unit NVQs
NVQs in Social Care
Health and Social Care NVQs are designed for care workers in the full range of care settings in the public, private or voluntary services. The qualifications are aimed at those who are involved in direct care, where the focus in hands-on care, (doing things for clients) enablement care, and development and maintenance of the clients independence (supporting and enabling clients to do things for themselves).
Childrens Care Learning and Development NVQ level 2
This qualification is aimed at individuals who work as a nursery assistant, crèche worker or a special educational needs assistant in a supporting role.
To achieve the full award candidates must complete 7 units, including 6 mandatory units and 1 optional unit.
Childrens Care Learning and Development NVQ level 3
This qualification is aimed at individuals who work as a childminder, daycare supervisor, SureStart worker or a community nursery nurse in a supervisory role.
To achieve the full award candidates must complete 9 units, including 5 mandatory units and 4 optional units.
Health and Social Care NVQ level 2
This qualification is aimed at those who deliver care in support of and under the direction of a colleague who is accountable in the area of practise. Although this person may not always be in the immediate vicinity while the candidate is working with clients. The candidate would be expected to seek support, advice and assistance if they are unclear about what to do or if unusual or untoward situations arise for example, deterioration
in a client’s condition.
To achieve the full award candidates must complete 6 units, including 4 mandatory units and 2 optional units.
Health and Social Care NVQ level 3
This qualification is aimed at those who may often be working without direct supervision or on their own, such as in a clients/service users own home. Candidates will have a degree of responsibility and autonomy, and will be required to make decisions with boundaries and limits agreed with their team.
To achieve the full award candidates must complete 8 units, including 4 mandatory units and 4 optional units.
Registered Managers NVQ level 4 (Adults)
This qualification is aimed at individuals who are responsible for the day-to-day running of single care homes and facilities for vulnerable adults. This includes nursing homes and facilities for older people, adults with physical or learning difficulties, adults with sight or learning impairments and adults with mental illness. This award is specifically designed for managers now regulated through the National Care Standards Commission in England. It is suitable for candidates who:
- develop, maintain and evaluate systems and structures to the benefit of others
- manage a service with the care and social care sector
- manage financial resources, projects and activities
- manage the performance of teams and individuals
- have responsibility for the implementation of policies and procedures
To achieve the full award candidates must complete 10 units, including 4 mandatory units and 6 optional units.
