NVQs in Catering & Hospitality

NVQs in Catering and Hospitality

Catering and Hospitality NVQs are aimed at those who work in the sector in any role. Candidates demonstrate skills and ability through units grouped to suit their own occupational area. These areas range from reception, kitchen, bar and restaurant.

Front Office (Reception) NVQ level 2

This qualification is aimed at those individuals who are often the first point of contact in your organisation either by telephone or face-to-face where it is imperative that you give customers a positive impression of yourself and your organisation. You will be dealing with for example, customer enquiries, bookings, payments, communications, arrivals and departures.

To achieve the full award candidates must complete 8 units, including 4 mandatory units and 4 optional units.

Food and Drink Service NVQ level 2

This qualification is aimed at those who prepare and clear the bar area and serve alcoholic and soft drinks, prepare cellars and kegs clean drinks dispense lines and receive, store and issue drinks stocks. Candidates are often involved with preparing and clearing areas for table service, serve food at the table, which may include silver service, buffet/carvery service.

To achieve the full award candidates must complete 8 units, including 4 mandatory units and 4 optional units.

Food Processing and Cooking NVQ Level 2

This qualification is aimed at those who are involved in the preparation and cooking of basic dishes and products. These may range from preparing sandwiches, basic meat, fish, poultry and vegetable dishes, providing a counter/takeaway service, dealing with payments, packaging food for delivery, ordering stock, setting up and closing the kitchen.

To achieve the full award candidates must complete 11 units, including 3 mandatory units and 8 optional units.
