Business Students Success at Charity Dinner
A group of highly capable second year students studying a BTEC National Diploma in Business at Penwith College have been working closely with Charlotte Chadwick, Employment and Enterprise Officer of Penwith District Council to arrange a Charity Dinner in aid of disadvantaged youngsters in the area who are involved with Young Enterprise. The business students undertook a project management assignment that enabled them to be involved in client needs and critical path analysis, operational planning, networking and much more. The students were also tasked to liaise with a number of intermediaries and local business in order to obtain support for the event and all donations were auctioned on the night to raise funds.
The students were certainly professionally turned out on the night, dressed in their best and with the expertise of the Hair and Beauty department at the college they all enjoyed hair cuts and styles, manicures, and the ladies enjoyed a makeover too.
The project culminated in the students and their dedicated lecturer, Jeannette Moyle helping set up the event, meeting and greeting the 200 guests and catering to their needs at the prestigious host venue, Tregenna Castle Hotel, St Ives on 24th Jan 2008. For the whole story click here
Fashion Show
Penwith College theatre was full to burst when the audience arrived for the fashion show arranged by the College’s Hair and Beauty team. The scene was set with music and lighting and an atmosphere heightened with anticipation.
The students modelled a variety of dresses and suits from formal ball gown to cocktail dress in a myriad of colours, sparkles and feathers, demonstrating a wide range of sizes, styles and finishes. It was evident that both the level 2 and 3 hair and beauty students, made a great team working together with staff; to not only plan the event and provide the creativity and skills for the hair and make-up, but many of them becoming models themselves for the night.
