About Penwith College - Activity Zone
Being at College is about studying but it is also about having a great deal of fun. Here at Penwith College we do our best to lay on all kinds of activities for your enjoyment.
We offer a wide programme of enrichment activities throughout the year. Previously we have run courses in music, drama, a reading group, yoga, sports, counselling, ceramics, outdoor pursuits and photography plus many sports teams including hockey, rugby and football. Each year more options are added and we are always open to suggestions for new activities. So whether you prefer outdoors to indoors or energetic to sedate, there is something for everyone.
Penwith College students love a party and the Student Association does them proud. Organised and managed by the students, parties are just one way the Student Association raises money both to improve facilities for the students and for charitable causes. Last year students chose to sponsor a child in Peru through the Everychild programme. This year the Student Association is fundraising to send two students to visit the village in Peru where the sponsored child lives. They hope to see the work that the charity has undertaken to date and take part in the work programme. Each year the students nominate charities to support which have a special meaning to them. These have included the Shelterbox appeal, Amigos and ACE. Students have been actively involved with these charities both at College and outside, visiting Uganda and taking part in the excellent work that the charities undertake. In addition students have also raised funds for Cancer UK, the Royal Cornwall Hospital and Jeans for Genes.
